Bladerunes

Show Details

  • 01 - Prime
The caster prepares the item's aura to recive Bladerunes. This spell also determines exactly what Bladerunes are already on the item, (if any).

  • 02 - Weapon Rune I
Increases the item's OB by +10. The Bladerune fades when any additional magical OB bonus is cast onto the item. This OB is in addition to the item's 'normal' OB, magical or non-magical.

  • 03 - Empathy Rune
When this Bladerune is successfully cast, the item attunes itself to one wielder as defined by the caster. This wielder must be present and must also touch the item during casting. If any other creature attempts to wield the item, all Bladerunes on the item fade and become ineffective, except for any Bladerunes that are made permanent.

  • 04 - Sheidl Rune
When cast just before a Weapon Rune spell, the Weapon Rune spells OB bonus becomes a DB bonus instead, (duration is as for the Weapon Rune spell), it fades when any additional magical DB bonus is gained by the wielder.

  • 05 - Weapon Rune II
As with Weapon Rune I except the weapon's OB is increased by +20.

  • 06 - Haste Rune
Hastes the wielder for 1 round when willed to do so, it then fades.

  • 07 - Return Rune
Whenever the item is thrown or fired (as from a bow), the item flies back to the wielder who may catch it if desired, (otherwise it will fall at his feet). Travel is very rapid (approx 2000 ft/ rnd), but the item cannot pass through intervening obstacles. It fades after one use.

  • 08 - Minor Death Rune
This bladerune causes the item to act as an item 'of Slaying' verses a particular race or type of creature, (choosen by the caster when the Bladerune is created). On any hit which achieves a critical result, the wielder is permitted an additinal roll on the Slaying Table. The rune then fades.

  • 09 - Cleaving Rune
If an attack with a weapon having this Bladerune succeeds in causing a critical that specifies a body area, any armor that the item has struck will be shattered and rendered useless, or bones in an unarmored area will be shattered. If such an attack delivers only concussion hits or if a critical dose not specify a body part, roll rendomly to see if the targets weapon, tooth or claws (30%) or shield, hide or scale (70%) is shattered, magic items revive a RR. After one item or area is shattered the Bladerune fades. (even if the item resists the shatter).

  • 10 - Long Flight Rune
Allows a non-thowable weapon to be thrown with its normal melee OB at a range of a light crossbow, or allows a throwable weapon to be used at the range of a long bow, or allows a missle weapon to be ranged to a factor of four. It then fades.

Special Notes

An item may only recieve a limited number of Bladerunes at one time. This is based loosely on the size of the item. - Full shield (10), Sword (6), 2H Sword (8), Short Sword (4), Hand-axe (3), Hammer (6), Halbeard (8), Bracelet (1), Gauntlets (2), Staff (8).

Bladerunes effects are not cummulative: OB, DB, RR may not total up through a combination of different tired spells of the same nature.

When a Prime spell (level 1) is cast, if the item has never had the spell cast onto it before , the item recives an aura which makes the casting of Bladerunes on it possible. If a later caster preformes a Prime spell on an already primed item, the item is not 're-primed', it simply reveals to the caster the capacity of the items as previouly determined.

If a Bladerune fails to implant there is a 10% (normal item) or 20% (magical item) chance that the caster will still lose the powerpoints in his attempt to cast a Bladerune
